Jesus teaches us to pray <strong>privately and sincerely<\/strong>, <strong>in faith<\/strong>, <strong>in alignment with God\u2019s will<\/strong>, <strong>with a forgiving heart<\/strong>, and <strong>with persistence<\/strong>. Jesus starts with intimacy and trust, not technique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How should we posture our hearts?<\/strong> <strong>Reverence<\/strong> (\u201challowed be Your Name\u201d), <strong>surrender<\/strong> (\u201cYour will be done\u201d), <strong>daily dependence<\/strong> (\u201cGive us this day\u2026\u201d), <strong>repentance\/forgiveness<\/strong>, and <strong>spiritual vigilance<\/strong> (\u201cDeliver us from evil\u201d). (Matt 6:9\u201313)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Where does power in prayer come from?<\/strong> <strong>Abiding<\/strong>. The original Greek word Jesus used actually meant <strong>fragile, inconsistent trust<\/strong> that collapses under pressure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mustard-seed faith<\/strong> is <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#cf2e2e\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>small but alive and growing<\/strong><\/mark>\u2014rooted in God, growing through abiding prayer, and therefore able to <strong>move \u201cmountains,\u201d<\/strong> i.e., entrenched resistance to God\u2019s will (cf. Zech 4:6\u20137; Mark 11:22\u201325).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Why did Jesus say prayer?<\/strong> Because real authority flows from <strong>relationship<\/strong>, not technique. Avoid <strong>vain repetition\/babbling<\/strong>\u2014the Father already knows your needs (Matt 6:7\u20138).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Forgive as you pray:<\/strong> <strong>Forgive others<\/strong> when you pray, so your Father will forgive you (Mark 11:25; Matt 6:14\u201315).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Align with the Father\u2019s will:<\/strong> Pray <em>for<\/em> the kingdom and God\u2019s will (Matt 6:10); <strong>ask in Jesus\u2019 name<\/strong>\u2014that is, in His character and mission (John 14:13\u201314; 15:7; 16:23\u201324).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Persist with \u201cshameless audacity\u201d:<\/strong> <strong>Ask\u2013seek\u2013knock<\/strong> (Luke 11:5\u201313); <strong>cry out day and night<\/strong> (Luke 18:1\u20138). Persistence forms relationship and aligns our hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Watch &amp; pray against temptation:<\/strong> <strong>\u201cWatch and pray\u201d<\/strong> lest you enter into temptation (Mark 14:38).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fasting (as Jesus taught):<\/strong> <strong>When you fast<\/strong>, do it unto the Father, not for show (Matt 6:16\u201318). the Twelve)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Constant prayer:<\/strong> The disciples were <strong>devoting themselves to prayer<\/strong> together (Acts 1:14).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A praying community:<\/strong> They continued in the apostles\u2019 teaching, fellowship, <strong>prayers<\/strong> (Acts 2:42).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Set rhythms:<\/strong> Peter and John went to the temple <strong>at the hour of prayer<\/strong> (Acts 3:1).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bold intercession:<\/strong> When threatened, the church <strong>lifted their voices<\/strong>; the place was shaken and they were filled with the Spirit (Acts 4:24\u201331).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interceding for the imprisoned:<\/strong> The church <strong>earnestly prayed<\/strong> for Peter (Acts 12:5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From the Twelve\u2019s writings:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>John:<\/strong> Confidence in prayer comes from asking <strong>according to His will<\/strong> (1 John 5:14\u201315).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Peter:<\/strong> <strong>Cast your cares<\/strong> on Him\u2014He cares for you (1 Pet 5:7).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>James (the Lord\u2019s brother):<\/strong> Prayer is <strong>powerful and effective<\/strong>; release anyone who wronged you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Commit:<\/strong> \u201cLead me away from temptation; deliver me from evil.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#cf2e2e\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Abide Throughout the Day<\/mark> (John 15:4\u20137)<\/strong>.  This is your ongoing personal relationship that you develop with Jesus that leads to a faith that has authority and commands power to do the Father&#8217;s will &#8211; cast out demons, heal the sick, and break spiritual strongholds. Speak to Him throughout the day and listen, not just with your ears, but with your heart.  Pay attention to your experiences because He speaks into circumstances.  Absolutely nothing is happenstance or coincidence.  Jesus said even the hairs on your head are numbered.  And we know God works in all things for the good of those who love Him. He will speak to you through your life, and this is one way we are able to hear and follow Him.
