According to Jesus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In today\u2019s Christian circles, the phrase \u201cWord of God\u201d is almost always equated with <em>the Bible<\/em>. And while Scripture is sacred, inspired, and deeply valuable, Jesus Himself gave us a clearer and more personal definition of what the \u201cWord of God\u201d truly is\u2014and it starts not with pages in a book, but with <em>Him<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Jesus Is the Word of God<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cHe is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is The Word of God.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Revelation 19:13<br><em>\u201cIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God\u2026 and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 1:1,14<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus doesn\u2019t just <em>speak<\/em> the Word of God\u2014He <em>is<\/em> the Word. The eternal Logos. The exact expression of God&#8217;s nature (Hebrews 1:3). He is not a prophet among many. He is the fulfillment, the final voice, the complete revelation of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Jesus Only Spoke What the Father Gave Him<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cFor I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has Himself given me a commandment\u2014what to say and what to speak.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 12:49<br><em>\u201cI do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 8:28<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike even the most faithful prophets, Jesus&#8217; words weren\u2019t partially inspired or subject to human limitation. Every word He spoke was the direct will of the Father. No distortion. No error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Jesus Is the Bread of Life<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Matthew 4:4<br><em>\u201cI am the Bread of Life.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 6:35<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus is the <em>living sustenance<\/em> of God\u2019s truth. He is the very Word we are called to live on\u2014daily, personally, and directly. His commands are spiritual food, more essential than physical bread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What About the Bible?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many believers today will point to <em>2 Timothy 3:16<\/em> to define the \u201cWord of God\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cAll Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, this is true\u2014but it\u2019s important to recognize the <strong>context<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paul wrote this.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timothy was Paul\u2019s disciple, not Jesus\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neither Paul nor Timothy ever met Jesus in person during His earthly ministry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The \u201cScripture\u201d Paul refers to was the <strong>Old Testament<\/strong>, as the New Testament did not yet exist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean the Bible isn\u2019t valuable or inspired. But <strong>Jesus is the standard<\/strong>, not Paul, Moses, or even the apostles. Even Moses, though a friend of God, made <em>concessions<\/em> (e.g. divorce in Deuteronomy 24)\u2014yet Jesus corrected this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cBecause of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Matthew 19:8<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, Jesus <em>fulfilled<\/em> the Law, but He also <strong>refined it<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>\u201cYou\u2019ve heard it said: \u2018An eye for an eye.\u2019 But I say\u2026\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 5:38\u201339)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cDo not swear at all\u2026 anything more than yes or no comes from the evil one.\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 5:34\u201337)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Even these laws\u2014recorded in what we call the &#8220;Word of God&#8221;\u2014Jesus adjusted to reveal the <strong>true heart of God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inspired, Yes. Infallible, No.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bible is inspired. The prophets were inspired. The apostles were inspired. Preachers today may be inspired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But <strong>man is fallible<\/strong>. And no one\u2014not Paul, not Moses, not your favorite preacher\u2014can be elevated above the words of Jesus. Paul himself acknowledged this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWe know in part and we prophesy in part.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 1 Corinthians 13:9<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We must measure <em>all teaching<\/em> by what Jesus said. He alone is the infallible Word. He alone is Truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Deception Jesus Warned Us About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus warned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cFor false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 Matthew 24:24<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This deception won\u2019t come from obvious evil. It will come from within the Body\u2014from pulpits, from letters, from traditions. That\u2019s why He told us to <em>obey His commands<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIf you love me, keep my commandments.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 14:15<br><em>\u201cHe who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 John 12:48<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We are not judged by church traditions or denominational statements. We are judged by <strong>His words alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Final Thought: Obeying Jesus Is the Call<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are truly seeking to follow Jesus, your foundation must be His voice. His commands. His Spirit. All other voices must be tested by His.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let the Bible lead you to Him. Let His words become your law. Let no man\u2019s teaching stand above the pure, loving, hard, holy, and life-giving words of the Son of God.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Is the Word of God?
